Coordinator, Lagos State Taskforce Against Human Trafficking

Mr. Olamide Ibrahim is a legal practitioner and State Counsel in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice. He serves as Senior Special Assistant to the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State.

He has been involved in various justice sector initiatives and institutional reforms within the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, with particular interest in access to justice, administration of justice, human rights and justice sector development. He has also participated in several local and international engagements relating to law, justice and institutional development.

Mr. Ibrahim coordinates the activities of the Lagos State Taskforce Against Human Trafficking and facilitates collaboration among the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, law-enforcement agencies, civil society organisations, development partners and other stakeholders involved in the fight against human trafficking in Lagos State.

Functions of the Lagos State Taskforce Against Human Trafficking

The Lagos State Taskforce Against Human Trafficking (LASTAHT) is the State’s multi-agency platform for coordinating and strengthening efforts to combat human trafficking in Lagos State. It was inaugurated by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Monday, 7 September 2020, to advance the prevention of human trafficking, protection of victims and survivors, access to justice and effective prosecution of traffickers.

Leadership and Secretariat

The Taskforce is chaired by the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State, while the Lagos Zonal Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) serves as Co-Chairman. Its Secretariat is domiciled in the Office of the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, with Mr. Olamide Ibrahim as Coordinator.
