The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, participated as a panellist at the 4th Ehingbeti Maritime Hub Summit held recently at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Attorney General was represented at the summit by his Senior Special Assistant, Mr. Olamide Ibrahim, who participated as a Panelist at the panel session of the event.

The summit brought together government representatives, maritime professionals, legal practitioners, security agencies, private-sector operators and other stakeholders to discuss the development of Nigeria’s blue economy and the challenges confronting coastal communities.

Discussions at the summit focused on coastal resilience, maritime security, inland waterways, investment opportunities and the need for effective legal and institutional frameworks to support sustainable development of the sector.

A key outcome of the summit was the call for a dedicated Coastal Resilience Fund to support coastal protection, resilient infrastructure and community development.

The summit also featured the launch of the 28 Inland Waterways Investment Jigsaw, an initiative aimed at identifying investment opportunities across Nigeria’s inland waterways and encouraging greater private-sector participation.

The Ehingbeti Maritime Hub Summit is part of efforts to reconnect Lagos with its maritime heritage while promoting investment and sustainable development within the state’s maritime and coastal economy.
