….DPP celebrates the retirement of Mr. Olusola Shoneye and Mr. Babajide Boye
In recognition of their years of dedication and contributions to the Civil Service, the Directorate of Public Prosecutions under the Lagos State Ministry of Justice on Friday, 21 August 2026, honoured Mr. Olusola Shoneye and Mr. Babajide Boye, who recently attained the age of 60, at a retirement ceremony held at the Land Grabbers Conference Hall, Secretariat, Alausa.
The event brought together colleagues, friends and well-wishers to celebrate the retirees and reflect on their careers, as well as the impact they made in the course of their service to the State.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Adebayo Haroun, spoke warmly about the celebrants, acknowledging their professionalism, competence and dedication to duty.
He noted that their wealth of experience and dependability made them valuable members of the Ministry, while expressing appreciation for their years of meritorious service.
Also speaking, former DPP and Permanent Secretary, Bureau of the Public Defender (BPD), Dr. Babajide Martins, appreciated the celebrants for their support, professionalism and contributions during his tenure. He described them as resourceful and reliable colleagues whose knowledge and commitment contributed to the success of his administration.
Dr. Martins urged the retirees to continue to uphold excellence and leave a positive legacy, stressing the importance of doing good and being remembered for the difference one makes. He wished them a fulfilling and rewarding retirement.
The celebration provided an opportunity for colleagues and friends to share fond memories, celebrate the milestones of the retirees’ careers and acknowledge the enduring relationships they built over the years.
In their separate responses, Mr. Shoneye and Mr. Boye expressed profound gratitude to God, the Lagos State Government, the Ministry of Justice, their colleagues, friends and family members for the support and goodwill they received throughout their careers.
They also appreciated the opportunity to serve the State and expressed gratitude to the Ministry for the honour accorded them as they formally bowed out of active service.
Mr. Shoneye and Mr. Boye served as Directors in the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, where they distinguished themselves through their expertise, professionalism and commitment to their responsibilities, as they marked the significant milestone of attaining 60 years of age and retiring from active service.
